The 2024–25 Detroit Pistons season will be the 84th season of the franchise, the 77th in the National Basketball Association (NBA), and the eighth in Midtown Detroit. This will be the Pistons' first season under head coach J. B. Bickerstaff.[1][2][3] This will also be the Pistons' first season under a new president of basketball operations after finishing the previous season with the worst record in franchise history at 14–68.[4][5][6]

The Pistons held the fifth overall pick in the 2024 NBA draft, along with one second round pick. The NBA draft lottery was held on May 12, 2024.[7][8] After finishing with the worst record in the league the previous season, the Pistons had a 14 percent chance of getting the top pick in the draft, and were guaranteed a top-five pick.[9][10] This was the first NBA draft to be held on multiple nights.[11][12] The Pistons traded for Bobi Klintman, who was selected by the Minnesota Timberwolves with the 37th overall pick.[13][14]
