Chaharbagh (Persian: چهارباغ)[a] is a city in the Central District of Chaharbagh County, Alborz province, Iran, serving as capital of both the county and the district.[5] It was the administrative center for Chahardangeh Rural District[6] until its capital was transferred to the village of Sonqorabad.[5]

Population

At the time of the 2006 National Census, the city's population was 5,577 in 1,448 households, when it was the capital of the former Chaharbagh District[3] of Savojbolagh County, Tehran province.[7] The 2016 census measured the population of the city as 48,828 inhabitants in 14,380 households,[2] by which time the county had been separated from the province in the establishment of Alborz province.[8]

In 2020, the district was separated from the county in the establishment of Chaharbagh County, and Chaharbagh was transferred to the new Central District as the county's capital.[5]
