Professional career
Ojima's professional career began to gain significant traction with the Chiba Lotte Marines, where his left-handed pitching has been a crucial asset. His stats speak volumes about his growth and adaptability in the game. For instance, in the 2019 season, he achieved a commendable 2.86 ERA over 24 games, showcasing his potential as a reliable pitcher. This performance was a stepping stone that set the pace for the subsequent seasons.
The 2020 season saw Ojima refining his craft, ending with a 3.73 ERA and a 1.350 WHIP over 20 games, indicating his ability to maintain a strong presence on the field. His performance was not unnoticed, as he garnered attention for two consecutive starts without allowing an earned run, a feat that highlighted his improving command and control.
As his career progressed, Ojima continued to hone his skills. The 2021 season was particularly noteworthy, with Ojima achieving a 3.64 ERA and contributing to his team's success with a .667 winning percentage over 27 games. His endurance and stamina were evident as he pitched a substantial 160.2 innings, a clear indication of his role as a workhorse for the Marines.
The following years, 2022 and 2023, were marked by consistent performances, with ERAs of 3.14 and 3.47, respectively. These figures were reflective of Ojima's persistent efforts to remain a competitive force in the league. The 2024 season, while still in progress, has seen Ojima maintain a solid stance with a 4.31 ERA over 15 games, further solidifying his reputation as a steadfast pitcher.
