La European Rugby Champions Cup 2016-17 fu la 22ª coppa d'Europa per squadre di club di rugby a 15 espressione delle federazioni europee di Inghilterra, Francia, Galles, Irlanda, Scozia e Italia.

Squadre partecipanti

Le 20 squadre del torneo provengono dai campionati Top 14, English Premiership e Pro12, secondo il seguente criterio:

  • le 6 squadre meglio classificate nella English Premiership.
  • le 6 squadre meglio classificate nel Top 14.
  • la migliore squadra classificata per ciascuna nazione del Pro12.
  • le 3 squadre meglio classificate nel Pro12 tra quelle non qualificate secondo il criterio precedente.
  • la squadra vincitrice della Challenge Cup 2015-16.
