アンチコン (anticon.)はアメリカ合衆国カリフォルニア州ロサンゼルスを拠点とするインディーズレーベルである^[1]。1998年、7人のミュージシャンとマネージャのベイリー・パーカーによって設立された^[2]^[3]。現在では6人のミュージシャンと共同創設者のベイリー・パーカー、マネージャのショーン・コプロウが共同で所有する^[4]。

トレードマークはアリ。

歴史と特徴

このレーベルに名を連ねるアーティストは、ヒップホップ版ポストロックやアヴァンギャルド・ヒップホップと言われている^[3]。リリースはメンバーや会友、拡大した音楽仲間によって製作されていることが特徴づけられる。アンチコンと契約した初期のミュージシャンたちはかつて、アンチコン・コレクティブ (Anticon Collective)と呼称された^[5]。アンチコンは元々、アンチコン・コレクティヴを中心としたオルタナティブ・ヒップホップの集団であったが、アンチコンの創設者はただヒップホップにわずかでも関連していればいいようになった。また、レーベルはインディ・ロックやエレクトロニカのジャンルの音楽もリリースし始めた^[6]。アンチコンと契約したアーティストはアメリカ合衆国、カナダ、イギリスを拠点に活動している。

アンチコン・コレクティブは、ソロやグループでパフォーマンスしたりリリースしたりすることで知られる。また頻繁に集団内外のアーティストとコラボレーションを行うことでも有名であるしかしながらアンティコン・コレクティブは徐々に、別々のアーティスト集団に発展していった。インディ・ミュージックの質に似た進歩的な考え方を共有し挑戦してきたにもかかわらずである。そしてエレクトロニカやロックを含め音楽に別々のスタイルを探究していった^[7]。アンチコンの多くのアーティストが複数のレーベルと契約するようになり、さらにいくつかのアーティストは作品をセルフリリースするのに小さな、独立したレーベルを自ら持つようになった。

アンチコンはまた、レーベルの何人かのアーティストによるヴィジュアル・アートを主とする展覧会を開催している^[8]^[9]。

2010年2月9日、共同設立者であるソール（ティム・ホランド）が新しいチャンスを探し突き進むことに挑戦する時が来たと声を上げてアンチコンから退いた^[10]。彼は彼のアンチコンのアーティストへの気持ちが持続していた一方で、ビジネスやイデオロギーの相違があったことを言及して離脱した。彼は、「私とアンチコンのメンバーとの間に悪感情はない。私は多くのアーティストとの仕事を続け、彼らをいつまでも兄弟として愛し、また盟友とみなしている」と語った。彼は公式に彼の8分の1の所有権を放棄しと正式に所属から離れた^[11]^[12]。
