陰茎鞘

陰茎鞘とは、哺乳類（人間を除くほとんどの種類）が持つ、陰茎包皮と類似する皮膚組織である。人間の陰茎包皮と異なり、陰茎の全てを覆う鞘となっていることからこの呼称で呼ばれる。

コアラにおいては受精において重要な役割を演じる自然に生じるバクテリアが収容されている箇所となっている^[1]。コウモリの一部では副海綿体と呼ばれる組織を含んでいる^[2]。

マスト（英語版）（いわゆる発情期）の間、ゾウは陰茎を陰茎鞘から出さずに排尿することで後脚にスプレーする^[3]。

イヌのオスは目立つ陰茎鞘を持つ^[4]。

牡馬は格納筋（英語版）により陰茎を陰茎鞘に引き込んでいる。弛緩させることで陰茎が露出する^[5]。

アクシスジカの陰茎鞘は細長く、かつ尿がしみついている。木に枝角をこすりつけている間、陰茎鞘の中で陰茎を素早く前後に動かしている^[6]。バイソンやダマジカの陰茎鞘の端には房状の毛が生えている^[7]。

齧歯目の陰茎鞘の長さは尿によるマーキングと関連している^[8]。
