Celestus – rodzaj jaszczurek z rodziny Diploglossidae.
Zasięg występowania
Rodzaj obejmuje gatunki występujące w Meksyku, Gwatemali, Belize, na Jamajce, wyspie Navassa, Haiti i okolicznych wyspach, Kajmanach, w Kostaryce oraz Panamie[5].
Systematyka
Etymologia
- Celestus: J.E. Gray nie wyjaśnił etymologii nazwy rodzajowej[2].
- Siderolamprus: gr. σιδηρος sidēros „wyrób z żelaza, zbroja”[6]; λαμπρος lampros „błyszczący, świecący”[7]. Gatunek typowy: Siderolamprus enneagrammus Cope, 1861.
- Panolopus : gr. παν pan „cały”[8]; λοπος lopos „łuska”[9]. Gatunek typowy: Panolopus costatus Cope, 1862.
