The Caretaker (drama)

The Caretaker (sh. Kućepazitelj ili Pazikuća) je drama britanskog književnika Harolda Pintera, originalno prikazana u Londonu 1960. godine, a koja se smatra njegovim prvim uspješnim, odnosno od jednim od najpoznatijih ostvarenja njegovog opusa.

Radnja je smještena u jednom stanu u Zapadnom Londonu, u kome se nalaze tri lika - Aston, muškarac koji živi u njemu; Davies, stari skitnica koga je Aston spasio u barskoj tučnjavi i doveo u stan, gdje on koristi sve razloge da ostane kao "pazikuća"; te Mick, Astonov mladi i nasilni brat koji ne može smisliti Daviesa. Drama, u u čijoj su originalnoj postavi nastupili Alan Bates, Donald Pleasence i Peter Woodthorpe, doživjela je veliki uspeh, te kasnije postala predmetom različitih tumačenja i žanrovskih određenja.

Godine 1963. je Pinter zajedno sa nekoliko svojih prijatelja producirao niskobudžetnu filmsku verziju, a koja je osvojila specijalnu nagradu na Berlinskom filmskom festivalu.
