Peesh ili luzhesh (Bulgarian: Пееш или лъжеш; English: Are you singing or lying?) is a Bulgarian television mystery music game show based on the South Korean programme I Can See Your Voice. It premiered on Nova on 3 November 2016.[3][4]

Gameplay

Format

Presented with a group of eight "mystery singers" identified only by their occupation, a guest artist must attempt to eliminate bad singers from the group without ever hearing them sing, assisted by clues and a celebrity panel over the course of four rounds. At the end of the game, the last remaining mystery singer is revealed as either good or bad by means of a duet between them and one of the guest artists.

The winning singer, regardless of being good or bad, will perform again at the encore concert and gets a cash prize.[a]

Rounds

Visual round

  • The guest artist is given some time to observe and examine each mystery singer based on their appearance. Afterward, a muted video of each mystery singer that reveals only 0.3 seconds of their singing voice is played as an additional hint.

Talent round

  • The guest artist must describe one of the mystery singer's other talents, except "singing" itself. It may unrelated to the stage of truth, but it depends on their identity.

Lip sync round

  • s1–2: Each mystery singer performs a lip sync to a song; good singers mime to a recording of their own, while bad singers mime to a recording by someone else.

Interrogation round

  • The guest artist may ask questions to the remaining mystery singers. Good singers are required to give truthful responses, while the bad singers must lie.

Background

Nova Broadcasting Group formally acquired the rights to produce a local adaptation of I Can See Your Voice in Bulgaria in August 2016, including with production duties assigned by Global Films.[6]

Broadcast history

Peesh ili luzhesh debuted on 3 November 2016.[3][4] In celebration of Nova's 30th founding anniversary as well as during the twelfth season finale of Kato dve kapki voda [bg], the series has formally announced to return after an eight-year hiatus[7][8] with a second season scheduled to premiere on 22 September 2024.[9][10]

In the first season, an encore concert was held on the last day of 2016.[b]

Cast

The series has a panel of celebrities who assist the guest artist(s) to decipher mystery singers' identities throughout the game. Alongside with mainstays, guest panelists also appear since the first season. Overall, six different members have been assigned, with the original lineup being Militsa Gladnishka [bg], Emil Koshlukov, and Alexandra Raeva [bg].

Beside them, subsequent members joining on that lineup also include Maria Ignatova [bg] (who also co-hosted with Nencho Balabanov [bg] for the 1st season), Andrei Arnaudov [bg], and Ivan Hristov [bg] (from 2nd season).
